September, 2019 – With a federal election coming in a matter of weeks, the Canadian Labour Congress launched an online campaign on Labour Day calling on Canadian workers to start thinking about how you are going to cast your ballot and the importance of voting for candidates who support universal pharmacare, retirement security, climate action, equity and inclusion, and good jobs for everyone.
In a Labour Day message, Hassan Yusuff, president of the CLC, warns, “With hardline Conservative governments now running the majority of the provinces, we cannot forget what a decade of Stephen Harper’s Conservatives did to working people and their families. We cannot risk the rollback of hard-won social gains and the rewriting of the Canadian constitution.”
The CLC has launched the issues-based website that focuses on the fall election and contains lots of information about important issues affecting working people in Canada. The “Fair Canada for Everyone” website is dedicated to electing a government that will invest in people and build a better Canada that we want and deserve. There’s also an on-line petition you can sign to show your support.
Yussuff is asking workers to recommit to standing together for an inclusive Canada where everyone prospers.
