January 14, 2013 – Members of Local 258 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers working at BC Hydro have ratified a new two-year collective agreement.
Local 258 IBEW Business Manager Doug McKay says, “It has been a tough round of negotiations since the contract expired last year. Our bargaining committee was faced with many challenges from this employer and we worked very hard to achieve fair wage increases. We were able to protect our benefit package and negotiate a number of very modest improvements for our members working at BC Hydro.”
“I would like to thank the members of our union who stood strong and were determined in rejecting the concessions and unreasonable proposals brought to the table by this employer,” says McKay.
Local 258 IBEW represents almost 2,000 members working in distribution, generation and transmission at BC Hydro.
